Dissertation Hero

At the end of January I handed in the first part of my dissertation, which was 6000 words on a topic of my choice, I chose to write about the controversial relationship between fashion and religion. I found this extremely interesting and it was fun to research, the added bonus was that I got to include David Beckham modelling a rosary in it. I am currently writing the second half which is a 3000 word critical reflection of my final major project and like everyone else I find Harvard referencing the bane of my life! So I thought I would share with you my new little trick, Easybib. The best app I have ever downloaded in terms of uni work. You download the app, take a pic of a books barcode on the back and easy bob will do all the work and Harvard reference it for you. My hero!

Nicole Scherzinger for Missguided

When I heard about Nicole doing a collab with Missguided I thought it would be over the top and Malibu Barbie type of look.  I couldn't be more wrong! I love it all! The colour pallette is perfect; black, white and cobalt blue. The textures; leather and fishnet. It's just beautiful I can't decide which piece to buy first.

PFW - Iris Van Herpen A/W 2014

The structure and pattern cutting on these pieces are perfect! I love the ruffled textured detail used at a small scale.

PFW - Louis Vuitton A/W 2014

The power of the knotted belt at Louis Vuitton empahises the waist. Used on long coats and dresses all of a similar shape.

PFW - Alexander McQueen A/W 2014

McQueen never ever fails to amaze me! Forever pushing the boundaries and going beyond the imagination. The attention to detail on embellishments and textures are incredible!

PFW - Maxime Simeons A/W 2014

I was in monochrome texture heaven with the whole of Maxime Simeons' collection. I need this in my wardrobe!

PFW - Viktor & Rolf A/W 14

Knitted textures and knots transformed onto a print was a genius idea! Vary the scale and placement works beautifully!

PFW - Lanvin A/W 2014

The new take on fringing at Lanvin is beautiful! Using little gems and jewels and then hanging them off like a tassel looks amazing. They also used fine tassel silk strands in various ombré shades that look really nice as well.

PFW - Sonia Rykiel A/W 2014

Another collection that used a beige and camel colour pallette.i just find this shade so sophisticated yet subtle.

PFW - Issey Miyake A/W 2014

The patchwork monochrome geometric lines really stood out to me in this collection.

PFW - Roland Mouret A/W 2014

I really love the textured fabrics and prints used. The leather collars add a little edge and make the look more sexy.

PFW - Saint Laurent A/W 2014

Such a variety of coats at Yves Saint Laurent, from leather to tweed to fur.

Here are some of my favourite looks from the collection (minus the silver boots)

PFW - Chloe A/W 2014

The camel shade is one of those colours that is versatile all year round yet still looks sophisticated whatever the season may be.

PFW - Maiyet A/W 2014

I think the scale and placement of the geometric lines work really well in this collection.

PFW - Isabel Marant A/W 2014

A contrast of textures at Isabel Marant, channeling a biker look with some leather against fluffy cream fur.

PFW - Elie Saab A/W 2014

The rich colour pallette at Elie Saab is perfect for autumn/ winter season. Shades of red wine and teal looked very sophisticated, I particularly liked the ombré pieces.

PFW - Kenzo A/W 2014

This colour pallette deserve a round of applause!! Black, white, silver and grey with massive splash of lime green, I'm in love!

PFW - Giambattista Valli A/W 2014

I was really captured by the prints used in this collection. The are very textural and mark making esque, again the monochrome trend was key! I also found the lace dresses very delicate and lady like.

Oscars 2014 Dresses

Last night was the 86th annual Academy Awards, everyone was talking about the films but for me I was more interested in the dresses. Many people, thought Jennifer Lawrenece was the best dressed female in her red Dior Haute Couture gown but for me I preferred the more extravagant embellished dresses.  Here are my favourite looks of he evening....

L-R: Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive, Sally Hawkins in Valentino, Jenna Dewan Tatum in Reem Arca,  Chenoweth in Roberto Cavalli.

I thought Jenna Dewan Tatum looked amazing! And what best accessory than Channing Tatum on your arm!

PFW - John Galliano A/W 2014

Reptile skin and foiling was a main trend at the Galliano show, the placement in the body works really well.

I have fallen in love with this coat! I NEED!

PFW - Givenchy A/W 2014

Fur heaven at Givenchy! So fluffy and smooth and Paris esque!

I thought these tops were absolutely gorgeous! The embellishment and snakeskin detailing are beautiful when paired with dramatic black.

Look at Kendall Jenner work it!

PFW - Akris A/W 2014

As you can probably tell I love a monochrome look, so classy and sophisticated! I particularly like the fur details on these pieces. In this collection I loved their textual prints, the scale works perfectly.

I thought the use of actual lights was very interesting!

PFW - Dior A/W 2014

Dior emphasises chicness with its textured quilts and monochrome pallette. I loved the little hints of lace up details and pops of bright colours.
