Iceland: Adventure List

Soooooo me being all quiet on you isn't because I've been slacking it is because I have been on some new adventures. The first one I'm going to tell you about is the beautiful Iceland!

First up everyone thinks to go to Iceland you need to spend an arm and leg, but what if I told you that I went for 5 days and spent a grand total of.... £600!! Yes £600, that included my flights, hotel, transfers, spending money and excursions. So carry on reading for all my helpful tips and printers. But the basic start up is for amazing cheap package deal look at British Airways city breaks and you're on your way.

Okay so most importantly is the...tours. Literally there is something to do for everyone so research before about what tours are available and what would interest you. I'd recommend booking online before hand as many tours get fully booked! Also look around online for the best prices and deals, as some operators include hotel transport pick up to the excursion.

One thing to remember is that Iceland has very little sunlight however during the winter it is even less than normal at roughly 4-5 hours per day! So check  beforehand depending on what time of year you are visiting as to when sunrise and sunset is. This may then affect your tours if you wanted to do certain things during daylight.

Whilst I was in Iceland I only managed to do 3 tours (I wish I could have gone whale watching but during the winter there is very little chance of seeing them...sad face)

Blue lagoon - the most picturesque beautiful place! A handy tip for you, pack your own towel to save you money. Also a waterproof phone case or go pro is a must to capture all those amazing moments

Golden circle tour - highly recommend if you want to see the incredible scenery and nature at it's finest! Includes crossing no mans land between the North American and Eurasian tectonic places as well as a visit to Gulfloss waterfall.

Northern lights - the HIGHLIGHT of my trip and major tick off my bucket list! Absolutely amazing, if you go to Iceland this tour is a must. A little handy tip however you cannot capture a picture of the lights on your normal phone camera so download the "The Northern Lights Photo Taker" app, so worth the 90p

Sight seeing:
-Harpa concert hall building is really modern and looks so pretty with all the lights outside
-Walk along the harbour to see the beautiful landscapes and the Sunvogar statue
- Hallgrimskirkja Church - I'd recommend paying the couple of pounds just to climb up the bell as tower as you honestly get the most spectacular views of Reyjkavik from the top.

Handy tips:
- Clothing....layers, layers, layers! Seriously quick little trip to Primark for some thermals, vests and leggings and you are good to go.
- Find a BONUS store for cheap snacks and drinks (Iceland's version of a Lidl/Aldi)
- Ice Mart is the best souvenir shops for all your Iceland keepsakes, such a wide variety at good prices
- REMINDER - don't forget EU adaptor (I stupidly forgot mine and it cost me £15 to buy one out there)

Reyjkavik is known for being expensive when it comes to to food and drink, however here are few of the restaurants I'd recommend:
- tap water is drinkable so keep refilling your bottle
- visit Reyjkavik chips for a really cool yummy chip shop
- Pizzeria for delicious pizzas (get a large to share works out cheaper)
- Sky bar at Centre Hotel Anarhvoll, dinner with a view of the Harpa
- Piccolo Italia, my personal favourite! Such a soulful restaurant, very cute with yummy food at great prices
- look at restaurants down the side streets rather than the main high street as they tend to be cheaper
- Chuck Norris
- Meze
- Uno
- Rok

Hope this helps you all! This trip was definitely one of the most incredible places I have been to. I seriously cannot wait to book another adventure back out here, hopefully this time during summer so I can see the whales.

However I do hope you’re all well and mega excited for Christmas. I can’t wait to share with you all my Christmas adventures and antics as well as what my goals are for 2017. So much to look forward to and a fresh start for everyone.
