As far as I can remember I have been obsessed with shoes and to this day I'd still happily live off cheese on toast for a month if it meant I could buy a designer pair of shoes I had fallen in love with. Personally for me Jimmy Choo is one of the most iconic luxury designer shoes brands, up there with Manolo Blank and Christian Louboutin. When saw the book, 'In My Shoes: A Memoir to Tamara Mellon' I thought this would be a good eye opener into what it actually takes to create a shoe brand rather than your usual books on how to create a fashion clothing line. Not only did the book teach about the fashion industry side of the brand but also taught me more character building attributes about perserverance and not giving up. Whilst creating and expanding a worldwide brand, Tamara had to not only deal with bullying from her business partners but also her father's death, a court battle with her mother (who by the sounds of it hated her), raise a daughter and deal with a bipolar alcoholic husband! What a role model! In spite of all that she never gave up and carried on doing what she did best. This book is really inspirational for everyone not just those who admire the Jimmy Choo brand and love fashion. So many life lessons are explained through Tamara's journey and for me it put a lot of things into perspective.
